Access 201
Voice over IP (VoIP) media gateway

Access201, Analog VoIP Gateway, is a copper-fed CPE device specifically designed for residential and small office, home office (SOHO) applications. It is a cost-efficient means for service providers to migrate their customers’ traditional analog telephones and fax machines onto IP-based networks. Service providers can give their customers all the benefits of emerging IP applications, taking advantage of widely-deployed broadband access (cable modems and xDSL), without replacing their existing analog infrastructures.

Access201 is based on Telco Systems’ EdgeGate CPE standards-based VoIP technology that is successfully deployed in FTTH/B networks throughout the world. It is Telco Systems’ first copper-based single-box solution that supports T.38 for analog-to-IP fax conversion, G.729 compression on both voice ports, is fully manageable via SNMP, and it supports all current VoIP signaling standards (ITU H.323, MGCP, SIP). It also employs embedded support for IEEE 802.1q VLAN tagging and 802.1p QoS for basic traffic engineering. Variable NAT enables Access201 to reside behind a NAT server or router and have an inbound (local) IP address while running VoIP sessions with other external VoIP devices.
